چکیده
In the hilly area of Gioia Tauro (Calabria, Southern Italy), lemon orchards are grown in consociation with centuries-old olive trees. Lemons partially shaded by canopies and microclimate at level their is suitable for plants growth quality productions. Under these conditions, trees even without irrigation, providing, despite this limitation, a product. This study aimed to i) investigate qualitative characterisation two clonal selections cultivar Femminello, F. Siracusano (S) Zagara bianca (ZB), from described intercropping, on irrigated (I) non-irrigated (NI) crops; ii) assess preservation during cold storage, order evaluate availability lemons marketing period shortage such as summer season. Fruits were harvested commercial maturity, stored 10±1°C RH 85-90%, 60 days. Decay incidence, physiological disorders, weight loss, main physical-chemical parameters assessed harvest (T0) every 15 days (T15, T30, T45, T60). The absence decay disorders was observed throughout 60-day storage period, both under management conditions. loss greater fruits groves S ZB. S_I showed significantly lower higher titratable acidity than S_NI. Total soluble solids statistically ZB_I NI fruits.

Fruit load governs transpiration of olive trees.
We tested the hypothesis that whole-tree water consumption of olives (Olea europaea L.) is fruit load-dependent and investigated the driving physiological mechanisms. Fruit load was manipulated in mature olives grown in weighing-drainage lysimeters. Fruit was thinned or entirely removed from trees at three separate stages of growth: early, mid and late in the season. Tree-scale transpiration, c...
متن کاملResponse of olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae to various attractant combinations, in orchards of Crete
McPhail traps loaded with various attractant solutions (ammonium sulphate, Entomela 75%, Entomela 50%, Dacus bait 100, sexual pheromone of olive fruit fly Bactrocera oleae) combined also with registered plant protection products (lambda-cyhalothrin, alpha-cypermethrin as well as dimethoate) were tested for their attractiveness which was indicated as captures of flies in McPhail traps during thr...
متن کاملThe Role of Olive Trees Distribution and Fruit Bearing in Olive Fruit Fly Infestation
The role of fruit bearing percentage in olive fruit fly infestation is investigated through a simulation model where the spatial law of dispersion distances were modeled via an appropriate exponential law. The dispersal of olive fruit flies was simulated for two distinct cases, an olive grove with no olive fruits and an olive grove with 100% olive fruit bearing. Results showed that when no oliv...
متن کاملInfluence of Irrigation Scheduling on Fruit Quality of Young Potted ‘Manzanilla de Sevilla’ Olive Trees
The aim of this work was to analyse the influence of soil water content and distribution on fruit quality in 5-year-old ‘Manzanilla de Sevilla’ olive trees in pots subjected to different irrigation treatments for 3 years (2007-2009). The experiment was carried out near Seville, in southwest Spain. Four water treatments were considered: 1) T0, trees were under dry farming conditions except for s...
متن کاملEffect of Maturity Stage of Olive Fruit on Quality of Olive Products
This is the first-ever study conducted to standardize the maturity stage of olive fruit for development of olive murabba. Olive fruit was harvested at three different maturity stages including lemon green, semi-ripened and fully ripened stages for postharvest processing. Most prominent quality parameters of the product were studied for all maturity stages. Olive productprepared from semi-ripene...
